Abstract: Papers of lifelong activists in the Communist Party, USA. Eugene Dennis was general secretary of the Party from 1946 to 1959. He died in 1961. Peggy Dennis' Party work centered on teaching and writing. She left the Party in 1976 but continued her political writing. The collection consists of correspondence, articles, unpublished writings, research notes, and tape recordings. About half of the collection is research material collected by Peggy Dennis for her book The Autobiography of an American Communist. Those papers relate to the couple's organizing activities in southern California, China, Wisconsin, and New York, and the internal strife and government repression which the Dennises and the Party experienced in the 1940s and 1950s. The remainder of the collection consists of correspondence and writings which document Peggy Dennis' independent political action and her journalistic work on a variety of social issues. Numerous items pertain to the viability of the American Communist Party and to the status of women.

The papers include the subjects of agriculture and health; American bases and opposition; Chicago organizing; diaspora organizing abroad, and correspondence; human rights, disappearances and low intensity conflict; newspaper and periodical clippings; opposition to WTO/APEC; peasant/labor; radical publications; women's issues and organizations; and magazines and newsletters.

Abstract: Papers, mainly 1897-1931, of Eugene B. Thayer, a former publisher of the Wausau Pilot, mainly relating to his interest in Marathon County, Wisconsin history, together with a few papers of his son, Eugene B. Thayer Jr., also a Wausau printer. Included are indexed clipping scrapbooks (available only on microfilm) concerning prominent citizens of Marathon county and its military participation in the Spanish American War, minutes, questionnaires, correspondence, drafts of speeches and articles, and photographs. The scrapbooks concern prominent Marathon County citizens, the participation of the Third Regiment of the Wisconsin National Guard in the Spanish American War, and caucuses of the local Democratic Party.

Abstract: Papers and photographs of Eugene L. Sasman, a staff sergeant liaison pilot who flew photography and tracking missions for the Army Air Force from stateside air bases during World War II. The collection consists almost entirely of the letters that Sasman wrote home to his parents during his almost four years of service. These letters describe his daily activities, excitement at flying planes, impressions of Army life, and recreational activities at numerous air bases throughout the country, particularly Alexandria Army Air Field in Louisiana and fields in California and Texas. They provide insight into the operations and function of the stateside Army Air Force. Also included are Sasman's pilot logbooks from the war years, programs from two airbases at which he served, and other ephemeral items. Photographs include two scrapbooks filled with identified photographs of fellow pilots and air bases and other ephemeral items that Sasman sent home to his mother, Nina, for the express purpose of keeping in a scrapbook.

Abstract: Records collected by Eugene Mailes pertaining to the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and to labor problems in the film industry. Many of the papers are photocopies created, with the tape recordings, by the American Film Institute for a proposed show.

Abstract: Videocassette copies of motion picture footage shot by Eugene Millmann of events in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as a few other locations, mostly dating from the 1920s to the 1930s. The collection contains twenty-six separate clips, including the 1927 Milwaukee parades for aviators Charles Lindbergh and Lester Maitland, the Washington Park Zoo, Milwaukee's 75th and 100th anniversary parades, the 1951 visit of Douglas MacArthur, and the Muirdale Sanitorium. The footage totals 77 minutes in length, is in both black and white and color, and contains no sound. The footage was originally on 16 mm film.

Abstract: Papers, 1934-1949, of Eugene P. Connolly, a chairman of the Manhattan Committee of the American Labor Party, consisting of microfilmed scrapbooks of clippings and campaign materials. The chronologically arranged scrapbooks trace Connolly’s career as organizer for the anti-Tammany Knickerbocker Democratic Club (1934) and the American Labor Party (1936) and subsequent activities as party leader, candidate, and city councilman. Participation in the Citizens Committee to Aid Striking Seamen and the Transit Workers Union is also documented. Other materials include party audits, correspondence, and political ephemera. One item shows Connolly with John L. Lewis.

Abstract: Papers of Eugene Leach, a Racine, Wisconsin, historian and curator of the Racine County Museum, including an unpublished manuscript, “The Story of Racine County--History.” The collection also contains biographical files on important Racine residents, miscellaneous material relating to county history, and five scrapbooks of clippings describing the involvement of Racine residents in the Spanish-American War and World War I. There are also records of the Racine Senate, 1884-1851, and the Racine Relief Association, 1883-1898. The photographs are images of people associated with Racine County, Wisconsin, during the late 19th century, collected by Leach for use in illustrating his writings.

Abstract: Papers and photographs of Eunice Onsrud Hall, a member of the 6669th Women's Army Corps (W.A.C.) Headquarters Platoon who served in North Africa and Italy during World War II. The collection consists largely of the letters Hall wrote home to her family during her wartime service and also while she worked in Greece for the Corps of Engineers from 1947-1948. The war letters described her basic training in the United States and, to the extent allowed by censors, her overseas service as part of the 5th Army. She described military life, living conditions, and recreational activities during the war. Other war-related materials include her military papers and local newspaper clippings describing her service. Her correspondence from Greece also described living conditions and recreational activities in addition to her thoughts on the Greek people. Postcards document the trips she took to nearby countries during her time in Europe. Materials from her life as a veteran include two typed reminiscences, materials relating to her late husband Reynold Hall, also a World War II veteran, and her interest in the Women in Military Service Memorial near Washington, DC. Photographs include numerous unidentified shots of Hall and fellow W.A.C.'s in North Africa and Italy during World War II. There are many photographs of recreational activities in Greece from her stay there. Also included are photographs from her trip along with other 5th Army veterans to Italy in 2001 to visit American cemeteries there and old battlegrounds.

Abstract: The Euroco Costumes collection contains the “costume bibles” from over 175 musicals, plays, television, and film productions spanning from 1990 to 2019. The collection includes sketches, fabric samples, photos, and other paperwork about the productions. The costumes were constructed by Euroco Costumes and include designs by Theoni V. Aldredge, William Ivey Long, Catherine Zuber and owner Janet Bloor, as well as designs for productions directed by Twyla Tharp.
