Abstract: Papers, 1855-1890 and circa 1951, of Joseph H. Osborn, a Winnebago County, Wisconsin, pioneer, pertaining to cooperatives, railroad regulation, and the Granger movement. In the correspondence are letters on railway rate determination, the legislative program of the Grange for 1874, and letters from R.H. Ferguson of the Cheap Transportation Association; John Samuel and Frederick Turner of the Knights of Labor; George H. Paul of the Railroad Commission and chairman of the People's Reform Committee; and the Sovereigns of Industry. A letter book, 1876-1877, kept while Osborn was master of the Wisconsin Grange and an active member of the state railroad commission, relates to Grange matters and railway regulation.

Abstract: Papers of Paul Osborn, a well known writer of plays, motion pictures, and adaptations, consisting of scripts, revisions, clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, and playbills. Among the represented plays are A Bell for Adano (1944), Mornings at Seven (1939), On Borrowed Time (1938), Point of No Return (1951), and The World of Suzie Wong (1958); among the motion pictures are East of Eden (Warner Bros., 1955), Homecoming (MGM, 1948), Madame Curie (MGM, 1943), Mrs. Miniver (MGM, 1942), The Old Man and the Sea (Warner Bros., 1955), Sayonara (Warner Bros., 1957), South Pacific (Magna Theatre Corp., 1958), Wild River (20th Century-Fox, 1960), The Yearling (MGM, 1940), and The Young in Heart (UA, 1938). Relating to his writing techniques are a group of annotated novels which Osborn adapted for dramatic production. One box contains business papers and correspondence. Also included is a group of set designs by Jo Mielziner for Osborn's unsuccessful play Maiden Voyage (1957).

Abstract: Papers of M.V. O'Shea, an author, lecturer, and professor of education at the University of Wisconsin from 1897 until his death in 1932. The records document O'Shea's professional career and his research and writings, including his book Tobacco and Mental Efficiency (1926). Present are class plans, notebooks of observations on educational systems and children, papers and articles written by O'Shea, professional correspondence, personal correspondence, and biographical material.

Abstract: Records, mainly 1950-1971, of Oshkosh Brewing Company, a brewery incorporated in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 1894 which operated until 1971. Included are minutes and other records dealing with the company's establishment and its predecessor companies, the oldest of which dated to 1864; executive correspondence of members of the Schwalm, Kuenzl, and Glatz families who controlled the company for three generations and of David V. Uihlein who purchased a majority share in 1961; advertising and promotional material; and financial records, floor plans of the brewery, product labels, and union contracts. Also present are records from the Oshkosh Colytic Egg and Storage Company operated by the brewery. Information is included on the soft drink and malt syrup production of the Prohibition era; responses to competition experienced during its final years; and relations with the Brewers Association of America, the U.S. Brewers Association, the Wisconsin State Brewers Association, and Associated Industries of Oshkosh. Also includes a few product labels.

Abstract: Dated primarily between 1930-1955, the records include papers of the board of public works, 1927-1951, the board of review, 1934-1957, the cemetery committee, 1926-1951, the election commission, 1945-1952, the emergency relief administration, 1934, city ordinances 1919-1953, the park board 1937-1951, and resolutions of the common council, 1933-1954. There is also general correspondence of the city clerk, 1933-1955, which pertains to a variety of functions performed by the clerk as officer of record, secretary to the common council, and administrative officer for the city. It should be noted that the files of the boards of public works and review and the election and cemetery commissions contain a wider variety of papers which board and commission members received in their capacities as city department heads and city council members.
