Arctic, 1851-1940 Scope and Content Note: This subseries contains the materials relating to expeditions to the Arctic regions, such as Northern Canada, Greenland, and the North Pole, by explorers such as Robert Peary, Louise Boyd, Vilhjalmur Stefansson, and Isaac Israel Hayes, and contains correspondence, reports, photographs, and other items from these explorers. In some cases, there is information on how the AGS used the results from these expeditions for their own maps and publications. Additional photographs from some of these expeditions may also be in the AGSL Photograph Collection; please consult a staff member for more information.
