Biography/History

The American College of Allergy (ACA) was officially incorporated on November 23, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1987, the ACA formally changed its name to the American College of Allergy and Immunology (ACAI), and in 1999 changed its name once more to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), as it is currently known. The American Association for Clinical Immunology and Allergy (AACIA), which was founded in 1964 with the purpose of establishing a separate, autonomous certifying board, merged into the ACAI in 1987.
