Part 2 (M2014-095): Additions, 1930-201029.7 cubic feet (20 records center cartons, 32 archives boxes, and 1 oversize folder) Records of a union local for the Milwaukee-based Allen-Bradley Company. Includes documentation of grievance arbitration, union correspondence, records of contract negotiations, Executive Board and Membership meeting minutes, union flyers, and files of union officers and committees. The records of UE Local 1111 have been kept in their original order wherever possible. Records came from different offices and officers within the union and therefore began with different levels of organization. The researcher might expect some inconsistencies in titling for similar types of materials as a result. This collection is divided into seven series: ARBITRATION, 1944-1995; CORRESPONDENCE, 1950-2009; CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS, 1938-2005; MEETINGS, 1937-2010; FLYERS, 1944-2010; OFFICERS' FILES; and COMMITTEE FILES, 1937-1993. The ARBITRATION, 1939-1995, series includes records of grievance arbitration cases, arranged chronologically. Where available, the arbitration case number is included. Most of these cases are represented by printed transcripts of proceedings, though some cases include notes and reference documents. The CORRESPONDENCE, 1950-2009, series includes the local's correspondence files, arranged annually in earlier years and monthly in later years. These files most often include monthly organizational reports, statements of income and expenses, and notes of appreciation from union members who received aid, or from other unions who received donations. Some overlap exists between the materials in this series and the meeting reference materials in the MEETINGS series. The CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS series includes records of the union's negotiations with the company for a revised labor contract. This usually occurred every three years. Files most often include notes from negotiation meetings, the union's contract proposals, the company's offer to the union, and a published final labor agreement. Some negotiations also include flyers and notices created by the Bargaining Committee to update union members on the progress of the negotiations. The MEETINGS, 1937-2010, series includes minutes from the regular and special session Executive Board and Membership meetings, as well as some Business meetings. These are mostly complete runs for the duration of the union; the Executive Board minutes are missing the years 1984-1989. A subseries of reference materials includes cards and correspondence read at meetings, and notes on upcoming bills, deceased members, or other information shared at the monthly meetings. This material exists only for the years 1964-1983. This is arranged by month and year. The FLYERS, 1944-2010, series includes flyers produced by the union for regular meetings, elections, and to provide information about impending contract negotiations or strike actions by the union. The OFFICERS' FILES series includes records that were identified as belonging to specific offices or officers. One point of note is that the office of Corresponding-Recording Secretary was apparently merged with the office of Financial Secretary-Treasurer around 1965. Some of this material overlaps other series in the collection. The offices of President, Vice-president, and Secretary are most represented here. The COMMITTEE FILES, 1937-1993, series includes records of several UE Local 1111 committees, notably the Bargaining, Entertainment, and Election committees. The Bargaining committee files include a history of bargaining at Allen-Bradley and meeting minutes. The Entertainment committee files include records of annual picnic and seasonal dances the union sponsored. These files include invoices and some flyers for hired bands and venues. The Election committee files include election results with number of votes for each candidate.
