The film examines how the increase in tourism and the decline in the fishing industry, lumbering, and farming are changing Bayfield. Footage includes views of a Bayfield restaurant, gift shops, art galleries, camping, swimming, an aerial view, the architecture, and landscape (city and water).

Film discusses the history of corn cultivation. In the “past,” a horse and cart were used, weed removal and corn picking (husking) was done by hand, and growing a corn crop involved 14 steps. In the “present,” machines and fertilizers are used (12 steps). In the “future,” corn cultivation will continue to change (6 steps).

Note: The Land Tenure Center was organized on May 11, 1962 when the University of Wisconsin signed an initial three year contract with the Agency for International Development. The Land Tenure Center conducted research projects in several Latin American countries including Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela, Guatemala and Nicaragua. The research focused on land ownership patterns and institutional structures.
