Scope and Content Note

Writer: Andrei Serban; Elizabeth Swados

Director: Andrei Serban

Ensemble: Great Jones Repertory Company

Composed of two video components, documenting two separate performances the production of The Trojan Women, which was performed with Electra as part of the Fragments of a Trilogy by the Great Jones Repertory Company. Fragments of a Trilogy was conceived of and directed by Andrei Serban, with music composed by Elizabeth Swados. Swados used a combination of ancient languages to comprise the verbal dialogue in the production, including Greek, Latin, and others. There is one performance of The Trojan Women on Reel F4 (and this is directly duplicated by Reel F42) that is approximately one hour long, but is missing the final minutes of the performance, and has no audio recorded. A different performance of The Trojan Women was recorded on Reel F43 (and this is directly duplicated by Reel F43a), but only depicts the second half of the hour-long production, and audio is recorded. Between the two performances, there are different camera angles, and it was customary for the same roles to be depicted by different actors.
