“A Third World Cultural Perspective,” a single day special event as part of the “World Theatre Day Celebration,” hosted throughout that weekend at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club.  This event was held in the La MaMa Annex, and presented by the Third World Institute of Theatre Art Studies (TWITAS) in conjunction with U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) and Communication Center of the Population Institute. The event featured “The Indigenous music, dances, rituals, [and] martial arts from the Asian, Arab, African, Caribbean, and Latin American regions with a complementary folk arts and crafts exhibit.” Performances included American Indian Rituals Honoring Warriors; Fire Dance Connected with Voodoo Rituals; Music from Puerto Rico; Onissis - Folklore of the Berber People; A Bahrain Folk Dance; Dabke - A Lebanese Folk Dance on Harvest; Brazilian Capoeira Dances; A Kathakali Excerpt and Indian Odissi Dance; Philippines martial arts - Arnis De Mano; A Heroic Dance of Revenge from a Chinese Opera; Nigerian Ancestral Call and Stilt Dance; Congolese Dance Rituals related to Circumcision and Fetishers. Camera originals are spread across two separate half-inch open reels (F16 and F17).
