Records of an association formed in 1966 to promote sled dog racing by standardizing rules, sanctioning events, and working to increase public interest; consisting of newsletters, other regional organization publications, and race programs, bulletins, and results.
Biography/HistoryThe International Sled Dog Racing Association (ISDRA) was formed in 1966 to further the program of sled dog racing by acting as a central governing body and unifying force for the sport. The organization works to standardize rules and procedures, to sanction events which meet its requirements, and to generally increase interest in sled dog racing. Collection Scope and Content NoteThe bulk of this collection consists of newsletters arranged alphabetically by title. Included is Info, the official newsletter of ISDRA, which is a source of official news concerning the association's meetings, decisions, and awards, as well as articles of interest to those who breed, train or race sled dogs. Team and Trail is a nationally circulated monthly newsletter published in New Hampshire with detailed listings of race results. Most of the other newsletters are the publications of sled dog clubs based in particular regions of the U.S. These collections are either complete for the time period included or missing only occasional issues.
