Zenith Dredge Company still remains
as the on1 shipyard at the Head of the
Lakes which employs women in its yard.
At the present time, our comiany has 17
women welders and 1 burner.
Our photographer took this picture
of the girls eating their lunch on the
slab directly in front of the Outfitters
Shop. Showing in the picture are:
BACK ROW: (left to right):  Mary
Johnson, Lucille Walsh, Betty Butler,
Jemima Banks, Evelyn Holmen, Garda Kins-
man and Irene Ao.
2nd ROW:(at right in picture with
their faces only partly visible) are:
Ann Hudak, Edna Brown and a fine back
view of Esther Digle.
FRONT ROW: (left to right): Alice
Schulz, Lucille Pauley, Ruth Behning,
Margaret Eikrem, Elma Miller and those
Fortier twins, Doris and Dorothy Not
in the picture is Marion McVary.
At the left is Zenith's only woman
burner, Miss Irene Aho, formely of the
Purchasing DepartmenE.
Irene, who is 20 years old, took
a 6 weeks' training course last winter
to prepare herself for her unusual co-
cupation.
