[From Andrew Lee]
Eau Claire, Wis., 19 February 1894
Dear Brother!
Now I am again in Eau Claire. I came down from the
woods 2 - 3 days ago, somewhat earlier than usual.
I have been healthy all the time and feel good besides.
Now it will be a long time of unemployment as I will be
unable to get any work before the mills begin [their summer
 seasonal work].
Moreover, we have hard times here which affect the
workingman more than any others. The farmers believe it
will be better this summer, others, worse, than it has been.
It is not easy to know.
It is still pretty cold; it is almost impossible to get
out in the street [referring to wind undoubtedly, to which
he was unaccustomed]. Otherwise we have good weather.
Ellings has worked in town this winter and Karl is up
in Minnesota in the woods.
That is all the news I find worthwhile putting in a
letter.
Finally a greeting to you all.
                                         Your brother
