inexpensive
equipment at home are the points stressed,
        An exhibit of woments wartime work garments was made and shown at
numerous
adult and 4-E Club meetings during spring. These garments were designed to
be
comfortable and safe for women and girls to wear at the many new jobs they
have had
to take on as a result of the labor shortage.
OTHER HDYEMAE ACTIVITIES
        Home grounds improvement schools were held at Cambridge, Oregon,
Cross
Plains, Bower School (Primrose township) and Middleton with the assistance
of
J. S. Zlfner, extension landscape specialist. The series of four meetings
held with
each of these groups dealt with planning the grounds, trees, shrubs, and
flowers.
In April planting demonstrations were oonducted.
CIVILIAN DEIENSI
        The Home Agont has been serving as a member of the County Civilian
Defense
Council, in charge of consumer interests. A committee was chosen to represent
both rural and city groups and it has been attempting coordinate work being
done
by other agencies, and to make available recent information related to our
wartime
economy. Some of this has become a part of the rural. homemaker program,
including
the fat salvage campaign information. Study groups have boon organized for
city
women. This committee was in charge of one of the Civilian Defense booths
at the
Wisconsin State Ynir. Radio programs and newspaper releases have also been
a part
of their work, as well as talks before interested groups such as the Badger
Girls
State.
        Cooperation has also been given to projocts of the nutrition committee
of
the Civilian Defense Council .
PUBLICITY
        Radio broadcasts from stations WIBA and WHA have been used with all
pro-
