INTRODUCTORY. The publisher has pleasure in presenting the second volume of the Appleton City Directory. It has been prepared with the greatest care, and no effort has been spared to add to its value as a work of reference. If the patronage accorded has not met the anticipations indulged, yet the greater meed of thanks is due those who have aided, whether by subscription or information, in its preparation. The result of the canvass has proved beyond peradventure that the city has maintained a steady advance, although, per- haps, not growing as fast as other centers. As will be seen by the table elsewhere, there are 4,973 names in this edition, as against 3,987 in the last. This increase of a thousand names means an addition of at least 2,500 to the population, which can safely be estimated at 13,500 at the present time. Again thanking my patrons for their material favors, I am, Very truly, A. G. WRIGHT, Publisher.
