      Many lumber products are made here.  An extensive hardwood supply is
located in this vicinty. Farm crops are important in this community of
Lincoln county. Merrill has eight rural routes.

       This Lincoln county paper was established in 1898. In 1900 it was
consolidated with the Merrill Advocate. The Merrill Star Advocate is the
only
weekly at Merrill and by its merger the oldest news paper in Lincoln county.
Editor William Allen has been register of deeds for Lincoln county the past
seven years and during that time the paper has been under the management
of
R. J. Webster, his son-in-law.

       Noted for its shipping facilities, this Jackson county town exports
early grown berries, pickles and dairy products. Many tourists are attracted
by the beauties of the surrounding section, Merrillan has two rural routes.
