          Upon motion of Regent Gelatt, seconded by Regent Laird, it vas
          VOTED, That Joe B. Wilson) associate professor of bacteriology,
be 
granted leave of absence, nithout payj from July 1 1952 to January l, 1953.
          Upon motion of Regent Gelatt, seconded by Regent Jones, it was
          VOTEYJ, That William H. Sewell, professor of ruLral sociology,
College of 
Agriculture, and Chairman of the Social Science Research Comittee, Graduate
School, be granted leave of absence from August 6 to August 15. 1952, without
pay. 
          Upon motion of Regent Gelatt, seconded by Regent Kleczka, it was
          VOTED, jThat Frederick E. Sideman be appointed professor of pharmacology
and toxicology, beginning September 1, 1952; salary at the rate of "lO,5O0
on the 
tvelve monthst basis; in place of Dr. 0. S. Orth, who has been transferred
to the 
newly created Department of Anesthesia. 
          Upon motion of Regent Gelatt, seconded by Regent iaird, it was
          VOTED. That Harry Waisnan be appointed associate professor of pediatrics
for the fiscal year 1952-53; salary at the rate of $6,500 for the year, three-
quarters tie; charge $3,276 to Funds 1-A and I-&E and "3,224
to
Fund 15-65, De- 
partment of Pediatrics. 
          Upon motion of Regent Gelatt) seconded by Regent Watson, it was
          VOTED, That Preston C. Hammer be appointed associate professor
of mathe- 
matics for the academic year 1952-53; salary $7,500 for the academic year;
charge 
$572h to LS Math. Asst. Prof. (open position), and $1,i776 to the undistributed
fund. 
          Upon motion of Regent Gelatt, seconded by Regent Laird, it was
          VOTED, That Theodore L. Torgerson be granted the status of emeritus
pro- 
fessor of education; to take effect September 15, 1952.
