BADGER BIG TEN NOTES 
The Badgers finished third in the conference and the team's fine 11-5 
record was Wisconsin's best since the 1954 team won 10 and lost 3. 
The hard-hitting Badgers posted a team batting average of .288--second- 
best in the Big Ten-and finished first in triples ,(6), stolen bases (24)
and 
team slugging percentage (.410). 
Geoff Baillie finished third in -the conference batting race with a .400
average-the 10th Badger in 29 years to hit .400 in the Big Ten. Mike 
Seizer. who needed seven more at-bats to qualify for the batting title, hit
a cool .565 and ranked second in slugging percentage at .739. Tom Johnson
ranked 10th among conference batters, with a .357 average and he tied 
a Big Ten record on May 24 by blasting two triples in one game. Tom 
Schinke batted .263 in the conference but tied for the lead in runs (15),
triples (2) and home runs (4). R. D. Boschulie batted .311 in conference
play 
and finished ninth in slugging percentage at .533. 
Other conference batting averages for Badger regulars were Gary Wald. 
.300; Bruce Erickson, .255; Ed Chariraw. .231: and Jim Trebbin, .100. 
Senior righthander Lance Primis led conference pitchers in complete 
games (5), wins (5) and innings pitched (37). He ranked third in strikeouts
with 37, which, coincidentally, is the number he wore on his road uniform.
Junior southpaw Mike Nickels. 2-0 in conference action, compiled a fine 
0.89 earned-run average--fourth among conference starters. Co-captain 
John Poser was 1-3 with a 2.90 ERA; sophomore Les Penningion was 1-1 
with a 3.63 ERA; and Dave Krumrei was 2-0 with a 4.73 ERA.
