VERYTHING SEEMS to point to the probability that
we will have a sellout for each of the five home
football games again this year. This has happened at
forty-one of the last forty-nine contests. In fact, the last
fourteen in succession were played before capacity crowds
and the entire home season of 1955 was sold out earlier
than any previous one.
The demand for tickets presents quite a problem for the
Athletic Department, particularly when on the average,
orders for 8,000 tickets either on season or single game
basis are returned annually to the applicants because there
are not enough seats to take care of the number of requests.
  The problem then becomes
  (1) to explain to these individuals why their; applica-
tions cannot be filled and
  (2) to satisfy those who do secure tickets but feel the
location should be better.
The 1955 figures reveal the following:
Capacity of Stadium (ipermanent seats) -------52,788
    Season Books -------------------26,800
    Student-Faculty-Employee Books _ 14,500
    Visiting Team (minimum 3,000) -_ 5,000
    Single Game Sale -----------------6,488
