NEWSPAPER CAST-IRON STEREOTYPE BASES
These Bases are for loose mounting of the innumerable plates of various sizes used in depart-
ment store advertisements and other illustrated advertising, news pictures, comics, features and
'foreign" advertisements furnished in plat or mat form. The range of sizes in which the bases
are made enables the compositor or
makeup man to quickly mount a
plate of any dimensions any shape,
using one piece of base or combin-
ing two or more pieces as necessary.
No hooks or catches are needed to
hold the plate, as in newspaper work
the plate is simply laid loosely on
base, and when form reaches the

not slipped out of position before laying the matrix sheet on the form and molding the impres-
sion. Of course these bases cannot be used on printing presses, as there is no way to lock a plate
on them for printing. Two standard heights are made, and special heights can be made to order.
Height A is for Halftones and Zinc Etchings, which are about five points thick; Height B is for
Electros and Stereos, which are about eleven points thick.
