has been made after this extra twenty
minutes, the whole game is replayed on a
following day. It is a physical impossi-
bility for any team to tussle on after
ninety minutes without any prescribed in-
terval for rest.
The chief beauty of the game is that
dirty work is almost impracticable. The
fact that there are no penalties whatso-
ever soun(ls somewhat p)ara(loxical to one
accustonle(l to the Aiiierican gane. The
explanation is that thli third time a player
has violate(l any of the rules he is tturncd
off the field and no substitute allowed.
Thus any a(l]ant ate that may be gained
by a foutl play is taken away, and the
plavers are careful not to commit one.
