will need 1% cups (43 ounces) of barley flour and 11/, cups (6 ounces) of
wheat flour. Corn flour bread may be made with 114 cups (44 ounces) of 
corn flour and 1% cups (64 ounces) of wheat flour. In each case all the other
ingredients are the same, and the same method is used as for rolled oats
bread. 
BAKING POWDER LOAF BREADS. 
BARLEY AND OAT BREAD. 
50 per cent barley flour.    B 
50 per cent ground rolled oats.1By weight. 
1 cup liquid. 
1 tablespoon fat. 
4 tablespoons sirup. 
2 eggs. 
4 teaspoons baking powder. 
1 teaspoon salt. 
17 cups (5 ounces) barley flour. 
1Y2 cups (5 ounces) ground rolled oats. 
Directions.-Mix the liquid, melted fat, sirup, and egg. Combine the liquid
and well mixed dry Ingredients. Bake immediately as a loaf In a moderately
hot oven (400' F.) for one hour or until thoroughly baked. The fat may be
increased to 4 tablespoons. Nuts, raisins, or dates may be added if desired.
CORN FLOUR AND BUCKWHEAT BREAD. 
1 cup liquid. 
4 tablespoons fat. 
4 tablespoons sirup. 
2 eggs. 
50 per cent corn flour. . 
50 per cent buckwheat. By weight. 
4 teaspoons baking powder. 
1 teaspoon salt. 
114 cups (5 ounces) corn flour. 
1 cup (5 ounces) buckwheat. 
Follow the directions under "Barley and oat bread." 
To make oat and corn flour bread substitute 114 cups (5 ounces) of corn 
flour for the barley flour in barley and oat bread. This bread is particularly
good with the addition of raislIhs and nuts, since it is somewhat dry. For
rice and barley bread use 1 cup (5 ounces) of rice flour in place of the
ground 
rolled oats in the barley and oat bread. 
BOSTON BROWN BREAD. 
1 cup corn meal. 
1 cup oatmeal. 
1 cup buckwheat or barley flour, 
1 teaspoon soda. 
2 teaspoons baking powder. 
1 teaspoon salt. 
2 cups sour milk. 
% cup molasses. 
Raisins if desired.- 
Directions.-Mix dry ingredients, 'add milk and molasses, and steam 3 hours
or bake 45 minutes to 1 hour in moderate oven. One teaspoon soda may be 
added if a dark bread Is desired.
