Gov. Henry Dodge to Comr. of Indian Affairs, Oct. 29, 1836, enclosing council proceedings, Sept. 23-26, 1836.* See item 3 under Treaty of Sept. 3, 1836, and items under Treaties of Sept. 17 and 27, 1836. Note: This treaty was approved by the Senate with an amendment on Feb. 25 and was ratified by the President on Feb. 27, 1837. As the Indians refused to give their assent to the amendment, the treaty was resubmitted to the Senate, which consented to ratification without the amendment on Oct. 13, 1837. The treaty was ratified by the President Dec. 13, 1837. Both versions of the treaty are printed in Kappler, p. 352-354.
