2. Commission of Feb. 1, 1831, signed by the President authorizing John H. Eaton, Sec. of War, and Samuel C. Stambaugh to arrange a settlement of the dispute between the Menominee and N.Y. Indians; and to obtain from the Menominee cessions of land for use of N.Y. Indians and for U.S.*

3. S. C. Stambaugh to Sec. of War, Aug. 4, 1831, reporting and enclosing: a. Formal "assent" to this treaty granted by Indians in open councils, Mar. 15, July 18, and Aug. 2, 1831; and b. journal of proceedings preliminary to "assent." (OIA, LR, Menominee, 1831)

4. S. C. Stambaugh to Sec. of War, Nov. 8, 1831, reporting under instructions of April 21, 1831, directing that he explore country ceded by Menominee in Treaty of Feb. 8, 1831, for benefit of N.Y. Indians, etc. (42 p.; OIA, LR, Menominee, 1831)
