The Blood Plum of Satsuma This is the plum about which Mr. Bur- bank read in the Mercan- tile Library of San Fran- cisco many years ago. His interest was aroused and he sent to Japan for the plant, along with others, and subsequently utilized it to very great advantage in his plant developing ex- periments. The original Satsuma imported by Mr. Burbank is the parent of all the red-fleshed plums now grown in America.
