LB

So did you come to the Lab straight from your PhD program?

TH

Yeah I came right from the PhD program to the Laboratory. Actually it was the only job I had, I stayed there thirty-one years, retired in 1997 I think it was. So that was my full experience, my working experience was at the Forest Products Lab. I guess I liked it or else maybe I couldn't find a job anywhere else. No, I enjoyed it.

LB

Great. Were you looking at any other jobs when you came upon the job at the Forest Products Lab? Or was that---

TH

Was I looking at any other jobs?

LB

Yeah or was that the place you wanted to go?

TH

Well yeah I was, I actually had accepted a job with the Canadian Forest Service in Newfoundland and I had actually accepted that job and was all set to report and then this job came up at the Forest Products Lab that looked more attractive to me and I had to cancel the other job then.
