Um what education background did you have? Specialties?

BK

Oh I had degree in mechanical engineering, I had, I was working as a precision machine tool designer in Beloit when I had the opportunity to fill in an application for employment at the Lab and that resulted in my being accepted I guess you'd say and, so I accepted the position here in December of 1942.

Did you go to school here?

BK

Yes, University of Wisconsin.

AP

What year did you start your education career here?

BK

What, what?

AP

What year did you come into University of Wisconsin?

BK

I lived here.

AP

Okay.

BK

I lived in Madison, I could walk to school, I walked to West High School for---I walked to Randall School and I could also walk to the University. so, that's the reason I picked---Well, the reason I came to Wisconsin and in those years as I recall pretty much a graduate of any accredited high school in the state was automatically accepted and, at the University you didn't have to go through the quote rigmarole you go through now to get accepted.
