( 222 ) from his manfion-houfe to receive fuch animals. I do not know that this fpecies has been defcribed. In Oxford-Road, near Soho-Squate,, I: lately (A. D. 176 i.) faw, at a houfe where they Ihew wild beafis, &c. a Black Monkey fomething like the above-defcribed :- they called him a Spider Monkey, from his thinnefs and the length of his limbs. and tail his face was of a flefh-colour; he held faft by his tail by twifling it round any thing. His great fingularity, and what I never obferved before, was, that the hands had four fingers only, the thumbs being wanting. There was at the fame place another long-limnbed four-finger'dMonkey, in all refpedfs like the former, except that the hair was brown. I was willing. to make this memorandum, becaufe this genus of Monkey had, not been before discovered by me. CH AP. CII. Je Bufh-tailed Monkey. T H I S Monkey was about the fize of a T half-grown Cat: it was a male, with- out any figns of vicioufnefs. Its nature f£eemed to be more delicate than in the larger Monkies. It was humourfome in its affedlions, having a great fondnefs for fome perfons, and a violent averfion to others; and conftant in both. Jon.
