2'7e Red-throated FLY-CATCHERS,
Cock and Hen.
T   HE   figures on the plate reprefent
Tthe birds both of their natural big-
nefs: the upper figure is the Cock.
They were engraved on the copper di-
reafly from the natural birds.
The Cock hath a flender black bill:
the crown of the head is yellow: it hath
a black mark paffing from the corner of
the bill under the eye: the hinder part
of the head, behind the yellow crown, is
black; the fides of the head, beginning
of the throat, the belly, thighs, and co-
vert-feathers under the tail, are white:
the lower part of the throat, or begin-
ning of the breaft, is of a dark reddifh
colour; which colour parts and paLfes
under each wing: the back, rump, and
upper fides of the wings, are of a black
or dufky colour, the feathers being bor-
dered with a light yellowifh-green, except
the leffer coverts of the wings, which are
wholly dufky: the two principal rows
of covert-feathers of the wings are deeply
tipped with whitifh, forming two light
bars acrofs each wing; the covert-feathers
within-fide the wings are white; the
quills within afl-coloured : the tail is
blackifh on its upper fide; the outer fea-
thers have white fpots on their inner webs:
the legs and feet are black.

Le Ma/e a le bec menu et noir: le fommet
de la ztee eJI jaune: il a une barre noire,
qui depuis les coins de l'ouverture du bec
pafe fous les yeux: le derrie're de la tete,
audejjous de la couronne jaune, efl noir; les
co ttes i/ la tete font blancs, demneme que le
commencement de la gorge, le ventre, les
cuifes, et les plumes de couverture du def-
Jous de la queue: le bas de la gorge, ou le
commencement de I'e,/oomach e/f d'une coulecur
rougedtre fonce'e; coleur qui fe divij/, et
pa/P fous chaque aile: le dos, le croupi zn,
et le deiius des ailes font noirs ou fort r. m -
brunis: les plumes en jont bordeies de vert
clair tirant Jur le jaune, except' les plus
petites plumes de convertunre des aimes, qui
Jont tout a fait noirntres: les plumes, qui
j orment les ieux   principa/es  rang 'es des
couvertures des azlcs, ont lia pointe /la~icbe
a/Pz avant, ceqgi produit deux barres claires
a travers chaque aile; les plumes de couver-
ture di/ d/cus des ailes font blanch'es; le
defous des pennes ejf couleur de cendzre: [a
quzeue eJI noirdtre Jfr le dc/ins; les plumes
exte'rieures ont des tachIes bianches /uar leur
barbes iut ricures: les jambes et les pattes
font ncires.
