7he Golden-crowned FLY-CATCHERS,
Cock and Hen.
T   H E S E birds are figured of their
natural fize, and were engraved on
the copper diredfly from life.
The upper bird in the plate, which
I fuppofe to be the Cock, hath a flen-
der bill, of a blackifh or dulky colour:
from the bill through the eye paffes a
broad black lift, and above it a narrow
white line: the fides of the head and
throat beneath the black liIt are white:
the hinder part of the head and neck,
the back, and covert-feathers above the
tail, are blue or flate-coloured, with duf-
ky or blackifh fpots down the middles
of the feathers: the breaft is black, with
a fmall mixture of grey: on the crown
of the head is a Ipot of bright yel-
low; the fides of the breaff below the
black bar, and the rump, are alfo yel-
low: the feathers of the wings are
black, with greviflh edges; the infides
of the wings being grey: the tips of
the covert-feathers, and the quills next
the back, are white: the tail, which
is black on its upper fide, is compofed
of twelve feathers, as in all birds of
this genus, fo far as I have obferved
them; the inner webs of the three
outermoft feathers on each fide having
white fpots in them: the belly, thighs,
