( I 8 ) CHAP. LVI. PLA. 266. 7Ve Red-breaffed' Humming Bird, the Green-throated Humming Bird, and the Dormoufe. T HESE are all drawn of their natural bignefs; however, I believe the Dor- moufe was ayoung one, not grown to its full fize, though but little fhort of it. The Red-breadled Humminig Bird is re- presented by the upper figure in the plate. The bill is black, and more bowed down than is common in this genus; it even refem- bles pretty nearly that of the laft described Creeper: the fides of the headand the throat, as far as the breaff, are of a fine red or carmine colour: the top of the head, up- per fide of the neck, the belly, thighs, and tail, are of a dufky brown or black, mixed with a little fringing of blue on the edges of the feathers: the rump, and covert-fea- thers of the tail, both above and beneath, are of a fine blue colour: the wings are of a fine dark green, with a glofs like polilhed gold, when expofed to the fun: the inlides of the wings are alfo green, but not fo bright as the outer: the legs are flhort in pro- portion : in all of this kind both legs and feet are dufiy or blackifh. The Green-throated Humming Bird is the lower bird figured on the plate. The bill is black and ftrait: the top of the head, the upper fide of the neck, the lower part of the back, the wings, belly, and tail, Le Colibri gorge rouge, le Colibri, gorge verte, et le Loir.
