( 303 3 The Small Blue Butterfly is a native of England. Its upper fide is wholly blue, ,except a narrow border of orange-colour, fpotted with black, on the outer part of the upper wings. The under fide is of an orange-colour, covered with fmall black fpots. Le Petit Papillon Bleu ftf natf de I'An- gleterre. Le cote infe- rieur ejl de couleur d'orange, avec des petites taches noires. C H A P. CXLV 7?e LeIfer Ibis, and the Animal- Plant or Polype. T HE Bird figured on this plate is re- duced in magnitude to half its mea- fures, that is, fix fiandard inches divided into twelve fuppofed inches. An out-line is drawn on the plate, which f(iews the natural bignefs of the lhead. The Polype is figured of its natural fize. The Bird's bill is blue at its bafis, and black towards its point. It has a furrow on each fide of the upper mandible for its whole length, in which the noItrils are placed. From the bill on the fides of the head the 1kin is bare of feathers, and of a greenifh colour, in which fpaces the eyes are placed. The head, neck, back, OUt- Ldes of the wings, and tail, are of a dark 'duiky brown colou.r; the greater feathers of the wings and tail alaioit black on their upper iides, and dark afh-coloured beneath. The inner Coverts of the wings are white. hlie breaft, belly, thighs, rump, and covert- feathers both above and beneath the tail, are wvhite.
