by the way of Barbadoes, and prefented to
Dr. Fothergill, A. D. I758. I can find
nothing like the figure or description of
this rare Bird in any author, and believe
this is the firit figure and defcription of it.
The Great Dufky Swallow-tailed But-
terfly hath the head, legs, body, and upper
wings dufky, except two fpots of fine red
on each wing near the body: the fpots are
furrounded with a blacker colour than the
refIt of the wings. The under wings are
blacker than the upper, having each of
them feven fpots of cream colour lhaded
with orange colour: thefe fpots are divided
by the veins or fibres of the wings: two
of the afore-mentioned fpots have oval
black fpots within them. Each wing hath
.alfo fix femi-lunar orange-coloured fpots,
difpofed in the indented parts of its fcol-
loped borders. This curious Fly is from
China. I received it from the polite and
obliging Matthew Harrifon, Elq; fon of
Sir Thomas Harrifon, Chamberlain of
London. This I take to be a very rare
Fly, as I cannot find it in any collection.
