obligations I owe to this worthy and cu-
rious Gentleman, as he hath contributed
every thing in his power to aflift me in the
completion of this work, by furnifhing
me with many new and curious natural
Ipecimens in high preservation, as well as
curious drawings after nature. He has :alfo
greatly obliged the curious of thefe king-
doms, by prefenting to the Britifh Mufeum
a very large, curious, and valuable col-
ledfion of original Drawings, in water-
.colours, of the moft curious Animals,
Vegetables, &c. the produdfions of India;
,together with many fpecimens of the na-
tural produdions, wellpreferved; all which
have been helps to me. I think this bird
is figured by Petro Schenk, by the name
of Corvus Indicus, in a fmall book of
prints of birds, drawn from life, publiffied
at Amfierdam, A. D. I707, by S. Vander
MIeulen.

TJ% H I S Bird is a fize lefs than the com-
mon grey red-tailed African Parrot.
The out-line on the plate Iliews the ap-
pearance of the creft when not ereded.
The bill is of a dark affh-colour, and
hath notches or angles on the fides of the
upper rnandible.  It hath very lon, fea-
ma reconnoiozance des grandes obligations,

grand, beau et curieux recueil de defeins

et cro0/ent dans les Indes Orientales; et
aij'i de plujieurs echdantillons des produflions
naturelles, parfaitement lien  confervees,
donit j'ai tire en mon particulier beaucoup
d'a.fjiance. Ye crois que la figure de cet
oifeau a tte' donnee par Petro Schenk, Jous
le nomn du Corbeau des Indes, dans un petit
volume de gravures d'ofe'aux tir'es d'apres
nature, publie \ AmJlerdam en 1707, par
S. Vander Meulen.
