The Great Green Maccaw.
TI- I S is a Bird of the firil magnitude
arnongft Parrots, as may be judged
by the out-line (on the plate) of the head,
as bi, as life. The wing, when clofed,
was about thirteen inches long: the mid-

long.
The head was large in proportion to the
Bird: the bill was of a duIlky colour, pretty
ilrong; the upper mandible pretty much
hlooked, having angles on each fide; the
tongue duiky, round, and foft; the no-
itrils finall, placed in a narrow whitifh

-each fide of the head was a pretty broad
portion of fkIn, bare of feathers, of a
ieffh-colour, with feveral oblique lines un-
-ter the eyes, compofed of minute black
feathers. The eyes are placed in there

brighlt yellow, the pupils black. The fore-
head, adjoinin, to the bill, is covered with
beautiful red keathers: a little duiky ied
is feen under the bill, minxing with the
green feathers. The top of the head,
whole neck, breaft, and feathers of the
wings, are of a fine full green colour:
the green coverts beneath the tail are a little
mixed with red: the quills, and part of the
row of feathers above them, are of a very
fine fky-blue, except a few next the back,
which gradually become green : the infides
of the wings, and the under fide of the
t1il, are of a dirty orange-colour: the middle
