I De Black and Yellow Frizled
Sparrow;
AN D
7'he Brafilian Sparrow.
T-[~H E two Birds, and the Butterfly
T    figured with them, are all drawn
after nature of the bignefs of life.
I The Frizled Sparrow hath the bill
white, the head and neck black: the
back, wings, rump, and tail, are of a
blackiih yellow-green, or dark olive co-
lour: the breafi, belly, thighs, and co-
vert feathers under the tail, are of a yel-
low colour: the legs and feet are of a
duflky colour. It is called by the Portu-
guefe Beco de Prata. Many of its feathers
are curled or frizled.
The Brafilian Sparrow is reprefented by
the lower figure in the plate: it hath a
pretty ftrong bill of a very fine red colour:
its eye-lids are alfo red : its eves are black:
a large black fpot encompaffes the bafe of
the bill, which furrounds the eyes, and
extends a little way on the throat: the
top of the head is clay-coloured: the
remainder of the feathers over the whole
Bird are of a bright brown: the middle
parts of the   feathers are  brown or
blackifh; yet the under fide and rump
is much lighter than the other parts:

Le Moineau du Brefil.
L  E   S deux Oifeaux, et le Papillon qui les
accompagne, font tous djins d'apres na-
tutre, et degrandeur naturele.
Le Moineau frife' a le bcc blanc, la tete
et /e cou noirs: le dos, les ailes, le croupion
et la queue font d'un vert jaune noircitre, ou
olive fonc': l'Pelomac, le ventre, les cuilfes,
et les plumes qui couvrent le d&Jus de la
queue font jaunes. Les jambes et les pattes
font d'un brunfonce'. Les Portugais appellent
cet O  eau Beco de Prata, ßPlufteurs de fes
plumes font crepues, ou friJees.
La figure inferieure de l'empreinte re-
preyrnte le Moineau du Brtftl: il a le bec
ajfz fort, et d'un tres beau rouge: fis
paupileres font de la merie couleur: il a les
yeux noirs : la baqf de fn bec cli envir ouiee
d'une grande mar que ;Oire, qui entoure les
yeux, et qui de/cend un peu fiir la grrgee:
il a le fommet de la tote d'unjaune d'ai-gi/e:
le rJ/e du plumage par tout ie cor ps Pf d'un
brun clair tirant fitr le rouge: et 1/ y a
fur le milieu de chaque plume une marque
d'un brun f    co' ou noiratre; mais en mnone
temps le 'ventre et le croupion font beaucoup
