La Valle, Wisconsin, October 1900

From 1894 to 1900, La Follette continuously campaigned for governorship against the Sawyer-Paine political machine. He was twice defeated during these years, but in 1900, the political situation had changed, and he was elected by the then unprecedented plurality of 102, 745 votes.
