Waterford Area Local History

Western Racine County pioneer families began staking their claims in the Waterford area in the fall of 1836. The early years of settlement are documented here by a collection of historical artifacts digitized from a variety of formats including books, manuscripts, photographs, maps and newspapers.

This collection is a collaboration of many Waterford area agencies including Waterford Public Library, the Village of Waterford, Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce and the personal collections of many of the descendents of pioneer families.

Funding

The Waterford Area Local History Collection is collaborative project completed by the UWDCC and the Waterford Public Library.

The Waterford Area Local History Collection was funded, in part, through a 2006 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant. This grant provided financial support for public libraries to digitize and make available online, their local library resources.
