About the Collection

Barneveld Local History Collection

The Barneveld Local History Collection spans more than a century – from settlement, through the devastation of the 1984 tornado and the rebuilding effort, to more recent times. The collection includes public records as well as published and personal archival materials donated to the Barneveld Public Library or on loan from individuals for the digitization project. The richness and variety of materials could not have been attained without a great deal of generosity and community pride. The collection brings together several types of materials: books, photographs, video, business and village records, and personal scrapbooks and memorabilia. Their preservation will aid future scholars, whether family historians or disaster planners, and will provide an overview of the history of one small town in southwest Wisconsin.

Funding

LSTA

The Barneveld Local History Collection is collaborative project completed by the UWDCC and the Barneveld Public Library.

The Barneveld Local History Collection was funded, in part, through a 2007 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant. This grant provided financial support for public libraries to digitize and make available online, their local library resources. For more information about LSTA grants in Wisconsin, contact the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Division for Libraries, Technology, and Community Learning or visit the LSTA grant Web site at http://www.dpi.state.wi.us/dpi/dltcl/pld/lsta.html.
